The Fourth Doorway to Somatic Flow is Permission over Perfection

I realize that permission can feel dangerously close to settling for less than possible. In our very dynamic lives, we are often either moving or relaxing. Somatic Flow offers you a middle path where you are able to relax while moving. This is the shift into a practice that is about enjoying the journey. Learning to distinguish permission from resignation is often the central work of this principle. Permission is not the absence of effort.  There is always a further edge in a pose, a cleaner line, a more impressive version of a movement. Permission works differently. It says: this shape, this pace, this amount of effort, today, is enough. Paradoxically, this is often what allows the deepest change to occur, because the nervous system stops bracing against an imagined standard and starts responding to what is actually true for your body in this moment. Giving yourself permission to move in ways that feel good to you without the constant fear that you might be "doing it wrong", allows your body to open up and explore. When the nervous system registers that there is nothing to prove and nothing to fail at, it becomes available for actual physiological change: muscles lengthen more readily, breath deepens, and the deep, unforced learning that Equanimity and Embodiment depend on becomes possible.
